Manifesting Law & Order

An upcoming NBC televison series, Manifest, is about airline passengers, not knowing that they have been missing for over five years while only experiencing a few hours of travel time. A little like watching another NBC series, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, which I recently sampled, knowing that its been a few years since I last encountered, two of its cast members in their current roles, Mariska Hargitay and Ice T, in what seemed like a blink of an eye, these characters have not aged one bit, oh, they do appear a little heavier, but no noticeable age related gray hair, Hargitay, being female, none was expected, but, T, being male, I did. I realize, continuity of character appearance is as important as any story line in a continuing televison series, but still in my view, a little reality would go a long way in character development instead of the standard, never changing character appearance, into an stretchable of an hour into years as if that’s possible even in a fantasy. In some television shows children are allowed to grow up or are simply replaced, that is never the case with adult roles, unless a replacement is warranted because of an actor’s death or illness.
