‘Good Fellows’

Earlier today Reuters reported that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov had proposed to President Putin, to expel 35 U.S. diplomats from Moscow in retaliation for Washington’s throwing out 35 Russian diplomats from the U.S., as President Putin disagreed, to do no such thing, in a kind of ‘good cop vs bad cop, play acting scenario. Then president-elect Trump, wrote in a tweet, ‘Great move on delay…I always knew he was very smart’, from his vacation home in Florida. It seems Hollywood is once again playing its part in international foreign intrigue with the good cop vs bad cop routine that can be found in almost every cop movie or cop television show, and it seems to be working. Then Trump as if on cue in his ‘Great move…’ tweet, from The Godfather, ‘Santino, never let anyone know outside the family know what you are thinking’. Only thing these guys are not acting, it’s the real deal with international consequences being played out in a 21st century cold war melodrama atmosphere, to what end, is a mystery to me and to all in view…stay tuned…

Living In A State Of Nature

Wildlife and indigenous peoples require a wide berth of land to succeed in life with an inherit sovereignty over both land and water, a practiced care that have served them well for centuries, never possessing a spot of land long enough to spoil it. Civilization on the other hand require a small plot of land fenced in for the same reasons, however, with one perquisite, the added western term of manifest destiny.

The special virtues of the American people and their institutions.

The mission of the United States to redeem and remake the west in the image of agrarian America.

An irresistible destiny to accomplish this essential duty. Source, Wikipedia…

In view of all the above it’s little wonder that from time to time, civilization encroaches on wildlife and indigenous people, the hunt will be on to lesser the population of wild life as it is being infringed, as for the indigenous people, if any land rights were ever theirs are taken away or just ignored.

Providential Care

‘Be careful what you wish for’. There was once a time in America when right out of high school, a good paying job was available in the town factory, attaching part A to fit into part B. Then automation began, doing the attaching 24/7, without a yearly vacation. Automation did bring about other jobs to the factory floor not even thought of at the time, with some new training paying about $30.00 an hour, however, word got out that if the company moved production off shore, a worker could be had doing the same job for $24.00 a day. The company owner is a business person, knows a good deal when it presents itself, is how the business has been kept going for years and profitable. As an expression of flag waving patriotism, it was encouraged that some factory production should exist on the home front too. The business person considered, once the proposal was put forward in patriotic terms, the venture could be possible if the American people are willing to pay thousands for products that once cost hundreds, then we have a deal…

I Like A Clean (screen) View Of The News

I enjoyed watching CNN’s Reliable Sources this Sunday, the word ‘watch’ should appear in bold face, while I DVR the program every week, I never watch it, I listen to it, since I find the broadcast screen just too cluttered with a news crawl, banners, event clock, network logo, and whatever the producers can think of to aid in the distraction of the spoken broadcast information. This Sunday there was no news crawl, just the annoying banners and network logo, my guess giving the news crawl writer the day off because of the holidays. One would think that they would fear, a viewer would see a story moving in the crawl, leave the current broadcast to seek more information that was displayed in the crawl elsewhere, I know I would.

Another news program I DVR, this one a week day nightly, BBC World News America broadcast over PBS from their Washington, D.C. studio anchored by Katty Kay, however, due to the holidays, from their London home studio, when they do so its broadcast with a news crawl, which I delete, will watch fully again after the holidays.

I have always been amazed as to why broadcast and cable networks, clutter their screens with useless crap all at the same time, when each one of the cluttered item is fine as a standalone, but together, all at once is just too much for the mind to process and still provide the ‘take away’ what a news program is supposed to deliver, news and information unfiltered…

Systematic Inquiry?

We all would like to think that the investigative arm of local police departments is equal across the board when it comes to all its citizens. However, just a few months ago, two high profiled rape/murder cases seemed, only seemed to have garnered more police resources than any other crimes commented in the city on that day or week in New York City, even the media seemed to have offered a more aggressive coverage for days on end. Today, months after the crimes were commented, media is raising questions, with concerns that these crimes remain unsolved. One would have thought that on a certain day in the city there was only one crime commented, if there were other crimes commented, they were not widely reported and not seemly investigated. Front page news on some tabloid newspapers, lead story on local news stations showing police investigative crime vans parked at the crime scene, police combing the area in shoe protected white booties, not one or two police personal but ten or more. Neighborhoods were being strictly canvased, security cameras being viewed again and again hoping to find something that may have been overlooked and because these cases involve and are committed against/on the upper crust of society, that may be the not so hidden key as to why no stone was left undisturbed, as a massive search for the perpetrator(s) along with a handsome reward is publicized and widely reported. As in the good old days of the Soviet Union, some of its citizens were more equal than others too, comrade…

Israel vs. The United Nations

(The United Nations, founded 24 October 1945) The organization is financed by assessed and voluntary contributions from its member states. Its objectives include maintaining international peace and security, promoting human rights, fostering social and economic development, protecting the environment, and providing humanitarian aid in cases of famine, natural disaster, and armed conflict. Source, Wikipedia…

At its founding, it had 51 member states, it now has 193, since its inception, none of its member states have agreed with every passed resolution, or action undertaken in their name, 100 percent of the time, no organization of its size and diversification could be expected to have achieved such backing.

The Security Council is charged with maintaining peace and security among countries. While other organs of the United Nations can only make “recommendations” to member states, the Security Council has the power to make binding decisions that member states have agreed to carry out, under the terms of Charter Article 25. The decisions of the Council are known as United Nations Security Council resolutions. Source, Wikipedia…

Based on one passed resolution, Israel, has threated to re-asses, with-in a month, its funding of some of its institutions, (United Nations), five not specified, it deemed especially hostile to Israel, without regard to its benefits to other member states or its international good works. ‘It’s my way or the highway’, or, ‘I’m going to take my ball and go home’, in what the Urban Dictionary, calls, an illustration of immaturity, Israel, no longer wants to participant or contribute to solving problems. By the way, the resolution that so angered Israel, the condemnation of the building of settlements on territory captured during the 1967 war, occupied lands, viewed by many in the United Nations as illegal…which Israel can only site in some biblical connections, not taken seriously in this twenty-first century of modern political thought…

The Engaged Land

In restrooms, all over the world there are signs stating the obvious, occupied vs unoccupied, even at the United Nations headquartered in New York City, there are signs not necessarily in one’s birth language, I’m sure there are some, but mostly in the international language of symbols, easily understood by the sighted, but in case one is not, there are some with accompanying braille, even some go so far as to include a Grace & Harmony Mermaid (couple) sign for the LGBT community. My point is there can be no mistake as to the true meaning of occupied vs unoccupied, except from an Israeli point of view, that are currently occupying captured lands since 1967, that once captured in conflict (war), once hostilities cease, such land must be returned as a sign of peace, there’s that word again, ‘sign’, no restroom can be occupied forever, at some point must become unoccupied once again for the next occupier, if you will. It is totally unthinkable for one to occupy a restroom stall, then start to take up permanent residence by building a platform to sleep, and a sink and tub in which to bathe.

The above opened the door again for the president-elect to meddle in foreign policy way before his time, meddle is not too strong a word, impertinent, not restrained, without proper bounds, shooting from the hip, which I fear will be the hallmark of this/his future administration, as Michael Bloomberg once remarked, ‘God help us’ as he’s wants to run the nation like he has run his business…
